Our School

Dear Families:

The school year has begun and we are excited to see where it takes us! September was a transition month for the children: learning and understanding their new rooms and teachers. Now that we are acclimated to the new school year, October looks very promising for new learnings and discoveries.

Curriculum News…. Our curriculum this school year is off to a great start with Aware, Share and Care Approach. Our teachers are getting to know their students and planning personalized learning experiences to assist with and develop their academic skills (literacy, math, etc.) and their life skills (communicating, making friends, etc.) They are excited to share your child’s progress with you at the November Conferences. Our teacher’s goal is to help your child meet their many milestones and become successful in our program.

Themed Fun Fridays are noted on the calendar! Join us in dressing up as fairies or wizards, pajama party or wearing October colors! Save the date for October 31st at 3:00 pm for our Monster Mash classroom parties! Take a look at the October Tutor Times Calendar at the front check in computer to see what we have planned!

The Suffolk Center for Speech and Myofunctional Therapy will be at Tutor Time from October 9 – 11. They will be conducting speech screenings for all children ages 2 years old – Pre-K. The children have fun throughout the testing. A report is provided for your review 1-2 weeks following the screening. Please hand in your permission slip for their participation.

Picture Day is now complete and was a success! Proofs will be sent home for your review! There is no obligation to purchase, but all your options regarding packages will be with the proofs. There is also a due date stamped on this form. Please return all orders to the front desk.

The Scholastic Book Fair is here! The book fair will be up all week and conclude the morning of Friday, October 5th.. Teachers will have a wish list slip also for their individual classroom if you would like to purchase and donate a book! We also set up an Enchanted Photo Booth for you allow your child to dress up, use props, and take pictures! Have fun!

We are thrilled to introduce our new Extra Curricular Learning Programs:
Grow Fit: Yoga: The focus is to encourage the imagination and critical-thinking skills in our children; it won’t just be ALL work. Our promise is, to make this experience as fun and engaging as possible.

Spotlight on Spanish™: An introduction to a new language with puppetry, songs, stories and images.

Music with Ms Laurie: We are excited to introduce Miss Laurie beginning Monday, September 13.

Chess at Three: Exclusively for our Banana classroom and Pre-K students, Chess At Three students learn about sportsmanship, grit, and math, all through stories.

We are happy to introduce Signing Time Academy, a weekly fun musical approach for sign language development for our Infant and Toddler classrooms. Signing Time focuses on musical fun, creative activities and interactive games which create a basic foundation for communication and language development. The Handwriting Without Tearsprogram will continue in our preschool and Pre-K classrooms. We use fun, engaging, and developmentally appropriate instructional methods to introduce handwriting as an instinctive and comfortable skill.

Our teachers and teacher assistants are very excited to implement our new and continued programs into their classroom this school year.

We thank you for your trust and continuing support of our center and programs. We are very excited to be a part of your child's growth and development.

Best wishes,

Lauren, Debra, Jessica and Jessica L
