Our School

Dear Families:

September came with new classrooms, curriculum and teachers. We hope you joined the administrative team and faculty at Our Back To School Night! It was a very informative platform for our teaching staff regarding the curriculum plans for the 2017 - ’18 school year along with a review of the classroom policies and procedures. To help improve our operational systems, communication with our faculty and to better understand the needs of our families, please take time to take a short survey on your experiences at Tutor Time Melville for the month of September. Your opinion is important to us. All your responses and comments are anonymous and directed right to the Director. Thank you for your time.

The survey is ready for your comments and feedback! Here is the link: Tattle-Be Heard

After a great start to a new school year, October is upon us. Cool days and crisp nights usher in the fall season. This is a great time to look at the extra items you have left in your child’s cubby. They will need cool weather spare clothes and an extra sweater.

This month’s theme is “Exploring Fall through our Five Senses.” The children will learn Spanish and Sign Language for the numbers 4, 5, 6, and eyes, ears, nose, mouth, feet, hands, fingers, and toes. Our Fun Fridays are Silly Sock Day, Pajama Party Day, Pumpkin Patch Day, and Fall Color Day!

World Teacher’s Day is October 5th Show your love for your child’s teacher by leaving them a meaningful note on the heart outside their classroom door. They love reading about how much they mean to your family.

Pumpkin Patch! Friday, October 20th Students will go pumpkin picking on our very own Tutor Time Melville Pumpkin Patch! Each student will bring home their very own pumpkin. Each class will have a scheduled time to visit the patch beginning at 9 am.

Monster Mash Party! Tuesday, October 31st at 3:00 pm Children are invited to wear their costumes to school. Children will “trick or treat” to a few classrooms in the morning and receive treats to bring home. In the afternoon, there will be classroom parties with treats, games and a craft. All parents are welcomed. Please sign up in your child’s classroom.

There are many parts of the country currently affected by the recent hurricanes. Tutor Time Melville is dedicated in not only helping our community, but others in need. Tutor Time Melville will partner with jetBlue Airlines to fly donations to Puerto Rico. The Director’s husband, Mike Salatti, is a pilot for jetBlue and volunteered to bring your donations to the JFK terminal. Puerto Rico has given jetBlue a very specific list of items to donate. Please only donate those items. A flyer with the required donation list is in your child’s mailbox. We will be running this drive until October 23rd. All donations can be dropped off at the front desk collection box. Thank you!

The Scholastic Book Fair begins October 2 – 6. Points raised from the book fair will allow us to purchase not only books for our own classrooms, but also for child care centers in Houston and Key West that were affected by the hurricanes. We are also accepting donations of gently used children’s books. You can donate books all month and they will then be shipped out at the end of October.

Have a wonderful October! The administrative team and our awesome staff is happy to enrich your child's experience each and every day. We love what we do!

All our best,

Lauren, Afton, Jessica M and Jessica L
