Our School

Dear Families:

Last Month of Summer Camp 2018! As August rolls in, we enter our last month of Tutor Time Melville’s Epic Summer Camp! We have had so many fun activities planned. The children get so excited when they find out who is the weekly special in-house visitor. I hope you have been enjoying the photos we have been able to share. Water play has been a hit and we are seeing several children become more comfortable in our sprinkler park. In fact, many children do not want to go inside when their time is up! You will find the August calendar and menu on our website.

In the upcoming weeks of camp, we will feature the following weekly themes: Stem Exploration, Adventures in Time, Culinary Arts, Nature Week and World Travelers. Explorer Camp field trips include the Firefighters Museum, Garvies Point Museum & Preserve, California Pizza Kitchen, Long Island Aquarium and the Cradle of Aviation! These are great places to also visit with your family. Our in-house visitors include Mr. Steve the Scientist, Slice of Bayshore, Turtle Dance Music, and the Cornell Cooperative.

Our last day of camp is Thursday, August 30th. We will have a celebration in each classroom at 3:00 pm. Please feel free to come or send in peanut/tree nut free goodies! Please sign up with your child’s teacher. At this time, please bring home all items in your child’s cubby.

Tutor Time is closed Friday, August 31st to the children for Professional Development Day.

September As we wrap up our summer camp program, the new school year draws closer. Typically, during the school year, we transition children two weeks prior to their entrance into a new classroom. However, the majority of the children will move into new classrooms for the new school year in September; therefore transitions during this time are not possible. Please be assured that your child’s new teacher and/or assistant teacher will visit your child in their present classroom; they will engage in play, so their face and voice becomes familiar.

Immunizations and Physicals To continue to be in compliance with New York State Regulations, all children must be up to date with the yearly physical and required immunizations. This must be documented on the New York State Child In Care Medical Statement, stamped and signed by your child’s physician. There is only a 2 week grace period to make up any missed immunizations to continue to attend school, unless your physician furnishes a physician’s note stating your child is in process and your child’s next appointment date. We can fax a form over to your physician one time to assist you, but it may be up to you to use your “parent powers” to get the form completed. You can pick up a form anytime at the front desk. If you have any questions, feel free to stop at the front desk.

We are proud and honored to be a part of your child’s physical, social, and educational development. Please do not hesitate to come to any member of the Administrative team with any concerns you may have.

Best wishes,

Lauren, Debra, Jessica, Jessica L and Marissa
